Florida Scrub JaysI spent the summer of 2006 monitoring endangered Florida scrub jays in Port Charlotte, Florida. These birds are quite tame and I got to know several families very well.

Migration BandingI spent the fall of 2005 in St. Andrews, New Brunswick CAN doing migration banding. I got to see a lot of cool warblers I'd never seen before and even got to see a group of Atlantic Right Whales in the Bay of Fundy.

Southwestern Willow FlycatchersDuring the summer of 2005, I worked with USGS and Northern Arizona University monitoring a population of endangered Southwestern willow flycatchers in central Arizona at Roosevelt Lake. The water level was unusually high that year, so we had to get pretty creative to capture birds. Many photos taken by Noel Dodge.

Institute for Bird PopulationsAfter my first summer field job, I interned with the Institute for Bird Populations (famous for MAPS) monitoring the overwintering survival of sparrows at Little Rock Air Force Base in Arkansas. We caught a lot of fun birds, and after growing up in Arizona, it was my first real winter experience. Many photos taken by Noel Dodge.
